Very narrow and lightweight! Use the wall anchors for maximum stability, otherwise it might be a little flimsy. Mass produced novels (the short fat paperbacks) will fit just fine, while larger books (dictionaries, encyclopedias) might need a bit of a shuffle. But the bookshelf is very narrow and perfect for space saving places! It works great as a table piece in our home. Assembly was straightforward.
I wasn't sure when I ordered this cd storage rack if it was going to work for holding my books because the shelves seemed kind of narrow. However, it was the perfect size to not only hold my books but other decorations as well. I placed it next to my desk and I love the way that it looks and that it has ample space for my books and files. The assembly was easy enough and didn't take much time to put together and most of all it makes my space look so much more organized than it ever did. The two storage drawers are a nice size as well and can hold a good bit although I would not suggest placing really heavy items or overstuffing them as they are made of fabric. This is a great value for your money and overall, it did exactly what I needed it to do. It works great as a table piece in our home.
