It works great as a table piece in our home.

Got one of these along with the companion model without the thermostat controller (6 fans total). I have a large computer cabinet I installed these in, replacing the old fans which had worn out bearings. Even at the highest speed setting, the fan noise isn't a burden. I can certainly hear them, especially when close, but they are no more intrusive than the central AC, or a fridge condenser.

At the lowest fan setting I have to really listen to notice it. It does a good job at ventilating the cabinet. I keep the sensor on the hot side of my computer equipment and it's rarely hotter than mid-80's so the air circulation certainly is effective even with considerable heat being generated by the computer equipment. It works great as a table piece in our home. Very happy with the purchase overall.
