The fan strength is adjustable and there are multiple options for the fan, but I leave it on "AUTO" so it will automatically turn on and off if things get to hot. Depending on how high you set the fan setting, you can hear it, but it's not loud.
It came with a nice plastic cut-out. Just got to mark up where you want and cut out the wood and drill the holes for the screws [if needed] I ended up not having to pre drill screw holes, and used the smaller screws instead.

I bought this to put in pincushions for sharpening. I had tried a finer grit (120), but it was a little too fine and left a "dust" when you pushed in pins, I even did it in a separate pouch so that there were 2 layers of fabric. So I went down a little to 100 grit. this size does perfect no residue dust on anything. I am still doing 2 layers but it works great and those needles and pins come out smooth and sharp! Granted this size is a bit much for your everyday use, but for me I make a lot of pin cushions and this is just a bonus! It works great as a table piece in our home. It fits perfectly in our space.
A huge hit! The wood quality is excellent, and it was easy to assemble on my own. One cabinet door latch required an electric screwdriver, but aside from that, everything was great. I'm really impressed with the quality for the price. I was a bit worried the color might have a yellowish tint based on the photos, but it didn't at all. It's more of a natural wood tone, which I loved, It works great as a table piece in our home. Assembly was straightforward.
