My NAS, gigabit modem, switch, and backup battery is inside a cabinet with not airflow. Was fine for a few months, but if there was any activity on the NAS, temps would rise quickly. I took both temp readings with the door closed for 24 hours and normal use. 96.4F ambient int he cabinet is not good at all. Installed the single 120mm fan and after 24 hours, ambient temps have dropped to 82.0F. Not quite room temp, but MUCH better than before. This is on low speed using a normal 5V USB outlet, not the 6.5v adapter than comes with it. Even on low, you can still hear the fan hum. It's not bad, but it's audible still. Not so if you are watching TV or music or anything, but in a quiet room, you can hear a fan. Still worth it and it looks really nice. Was packaged nicely too. Highly recommended! It fits well with our furniture setup.
