I bought a 40" and four 12" along with the Y splitter and installed in a shallow closet that now lights up all around (2 on each side and the 40" on the ceiling.) The first piece in-line that activates with a motion hand wave, was put at arms height and we use a hand wave to turn the lights on. I originally had planned to have it motion activate when we walked up to the close, however the motion sensor is designed to detect a close-up hand-wave. Now I'm glad it worked out that way. If we had a switched we would have reversed the wiring so it would have worked without motion sensor. We don't have a light switch or a switched connected to an outlet or maybe we'd have just wired it so it turns on with a switch.
I chose to screw them in the wall rather than use the 3M strips so that it will be easier or less chance of removing paint later. I was able to use a tiny screwdriver to punch the tiny screw hole a little into the wall (rather than drilling which would not work easily with these tiny screws), making it easy to screw in, but the first few I was able to hand screw in without pre-holing it, it just took a lot of pressure and steady hand.
ESHINE company is great, they sent replacement screws when one was missing. It works great as a table piece in our home. Assembly was straightforward.
