Michael Aram Furniture is handcrafted, with no two pieces ever alike.
Each piece in this collection undergoes a series of casting, filing, welding and oxidation techniques.
The finish is a result of a specialized patination process.
Please note that the variations in texture and color are inherent to the handmade process and enhance the beauty of this piece.
Every piece is truly a work of art.
The Butterfly Ginkgo Furniture Collection celebrates the representation of flora as fauna. Michael's fascination with a particular type of ginkgo tree...Ginkgo Biloba, or "Butterfly Ginkgo", which grows with a double leaf reminiscent of a butterfly's wings...gave rise to a fantasia image of the plant.
Executed at the highest level of handcraftmanship, each piece is rendered in solid brass.
The pieces in the collection are a tour de force of Indian craft and capture the poetic spirit that is so deeply indicative of Michael's work.
"The first time I saw this tree, it literally looked like it had been completely overtaken by butterflies...as if they would all take flight the moment I walked too close or made a noise. The idea that the leaves could evoke the beauty of butterflies was magical to me, like trees that can metamorphose from flora to fauna in the blink of an eye."

During our spring refresh in the upstairs landing, this furniture piece stood out right away. The finish looks clean and thoughtfully done. It made the room feel more intentional.

For the neutral bedroom winter refresh, this surface turned out to be the right call. The quality feels consistent throughout. I am pleased with how natural it looks in the room.

I picked this table for the loft area because the scale looked right. The shape is simple enough to style in different rooms. It feels like a good long-term piece.
