Exactly what I was looking for! It works great as a table piece in our home.
I was afraid of putting it together. But was easy to assemble. I did call someone with more wrist strength to tighten bolts. That part was hard. But assembly was straight forward. Truly good quality. It works great as a table piece in our home.
Quality controller with nice styling. As long as you have a good jigsaw and the ability to cut nice square holes in your cabinet for it and the fans to fit, this thing looks professional and fits in well with any black or dark-colored cabinet.
On the other hand, if you DON'T have a jigsaw or the ability to cut nice square holes, put down the steak knife you were planning on using to try and cut through your entertainment center and call one of your buddies who know what they are doing. You will thank me later. Seriously, if you don't own a level and a square, find someone who does before attempting to install.
Backlight has 2 modes, one always on and one that turns it off after 5 seconds, which is very handy. In my setup it controls two of the AC Infinity 120mm cabinet fans. Variable "smart" mode works great and will go from totally off to full speed and back down again when it detects the temperature increase based on the settings. Also has an always on mode for the fans as well as "auto" mode, although since this is meant for a media center cabinet you will most likely use "smart" to keep the noise level down. While the fans are quiet, I installed 2 of them and that combined sound at max speed is enough to be noticeable during quiet scenes of movies/TV. Remember to keep the temperature probe up high in the cabinet, so that it gets an accurate reading of how hot it is (hot air rises!)
Overall a great product and functions exactly how I'd expect! It works great as a table piece in our home.
